How does social distancing help prevent Coronavirus?

How does social distancing help prevent Coronavirus?

In many places, people are resuming their daily activities, which were paused by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic . And with the virus still spreading, it is important to continue taking preventive measures to avoid further infections.

One of the easiest to implement in our daily routine is social distancing . If you still don't know what it is or you don't fully understand it, don't worry.

What is social distancing?

Social distancing means keeping your distance from ots her people to help prevent the spread of disease. In order to help slow the spread and reduce the risk of COVID-19 , it is recommended to stay at least 2 meters away from others. It is important to keep your physical distance, even if you are not sick.

  • · Stay home as much as possible.
  • · Avoid public places such as stores, gyms and restaurants.
  • · Avoid meeting large groups in any of the places you visit.
  • · Limit the use of public transportation. Keep a safe distance from everyone who also uses these    services.
  • · Limit contact with anyone who does not live in your home, including friends and other family      members.

· Wash your hands often, especially after being in public places. Use soap and water; rub them in for at least 20 seconds. If you don't have soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Cover the entire surface of your hands and rub them until they feel dry.

Social distancing is especially important for cancer patients and other people with weak immune systems.

Keep a physical distance, but stay socially connected

You may have heard the term physical distancing. This helps to emphasize the importance of keeping a distance. During times of stress, it is even more important to stay socially and emotionally connected with friends and family. For now, we need to support each other, but keeping a physical distance as much as possible.

Why is social distancing important?

The coronavirus is easily spread through the spray of small droplets generated when we cough or sneeze. It can also be spread through daily contact, such as shaking hands and sharing objects. Some people may not have symptoms, but they can still spread the virus to others. Even when people feel better, they can spread the virus for a time.

Social distancing is a way to slow the spread of the disease by reducing close contact between people. This means staying away from crowded places and keeping a distance of at least 2 meters from others whenever possible.

Even when keeping a distance of 2 meters, try to limit the amount of time that you are in contact with people you do not live with. A quick trip to the winery to buy some essentials is less risky than spending several hours at a party, even if you keep your distance from others.

Social distancing involves changing your daily routine to reduce close contact with others. These changes will likely be challenging. If everyone practices social distancing, it can have a real and important impact in slowing the spread of COVID-19 .

Stopping the spread can help protect those most at risk of serious disease, reduce the impact on the healthcare system, and "buy time" for scientists to develop a vaccine and treatment drugs.

Social distance within the home

Respect the personal space of your family members

Don't share personal items

· Keep the surfaces of electronic devices clean. Pay attention to telephones, remote control, and door        knobs

· Limit the access of third parties to your home. That includes family members who don't live with you.

· Do not visit other people's houses, especially if they have relatives who are older adults .

· Do not allow children to meet other children who do not live in your home.

· Exercise inside your home.

· Prepare a room to house a sick relative in any case they begin to present symptoms.

· Encourage your family members to wash their hands as soon as they enter the house.
